Held in Frankfurt, Germany from November 19 – 22, Formnext is the leading global exhibition and conference on additive manufacturing and the next generation of intelligent industrial production. Emery’s GPA business team will present its innovative binder system for filament 3D printing. The company’s technical group began developing its first binder system for metal injection molding in the early 1990s. Since then, applications have developed from the extrusion of metal powders and ceramic injection molding to the latest stage of additive manufacturing using filaments made from sinterable feedstock. Filaments made from sinterable feedstock contain a high content of metal or ceramic powder usually greater than 80 weight %. After filament 3D printing, the part goes through post-processing steps involving solvent and thermal treatment steps to create the final full metal or ceramic part. The versatility of Emery Oleochemicals’ binder system allows adaption to a wide range of sinterable metals or ceramic powders.
