Emery Oleochemicals Wins Yet Another Award!
24 Jul 2009 - Emery Oleochemicals (M) Sdn Bhd once again leads the industry by example when it won Gold Award for Community Awareness and Emergency Response Code, and Merit for Pollution Prevention Code during the CICM Responsible Care Awards 2007/2008 on 8 July 2009 in Shah Alam.
Yg Berhormat Dato’ Mukhriz Tun Mahathir, Deputy Minister of International Trade and Industry officiated the event, and gave the awards to the winners. En. Azuddin Rahman represented Emery Oleochemicals.
Responsible Care Awards as it is called is one of the Chemical Industries Council of Malaysia’s (CICM) flagship activities. The voluntary initiative was launched in Malaysia by CICM in 1994. This award is organized in promoting greater awareness and encourages chemicals companies in Malaysia to continuously improve their safety, health and environment performance through Responsible Care. Participants/signatories to this award have succeeded performing to the highest degree in executing the Six Codes of Management Practices that focuses on specific areas of chemical research, manufacturing, transportation, employee health and safety environmental protection.
Other categories in the Six Codes of Management Practices are:
- Distribution Code
- Process Safety Code
- Employee Health and Safety Code and
- Product Stewardship Code
For 2008, CICM received 30 entries, whereby 25 were shortlisted as finalists. Some of the finalists were BASF Petronas, Optimal Group of Companies, PETLIN (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, Acidchem International Sdn Bhd, NatOleo and Pacific Oleochemicals Sdn Bhd.
